     Mr. Joseph Lamar Smith of Headland passed away Monday, September 26, 2016. He was 54.



     Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Ricky Plummer and Eric O’ Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.



     The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, September 29, 2016. Flowers will be accepted.



     Mr. Smith was attended a Freewill Baptist Church. He was baptized a Lutheran. He loved Alabama football and spoiling his granddaughter, nieces and nephews.



     He is preceded in death by his father Charles Joseph Smith.



     Survivors include his wife Nancy Smith, mother “Kitty” Carpenter, step-daughters Melissa Windham, Stacie Nave, Courtney Austin, son Chris Smith, step-sons Matthew Hodges (Leah), Cameron Richey, sisters Tammy O’Bryan (Eric), Kim Smith (Donnie), Kathy Mathis (Clinton), brother Clay Carpenter, granddaughter Sarah Hodges, aunt Patsy Redcay (Reuben), friend Tony Saliba, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.



     Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Carpenter, Donnie Smith, Clinton Mathis, and Eric O’Bryan.
