OZARK…Mr. Kenneth D. Teal, Sr. (Senior Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died early Saturday morning, October 5, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 98.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Dennis Tew officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors and Masonic rites, will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Teal, son of the late Marvin Frank Teal and Clara Belle Goodson Teal, was a native of Clio. He joined the Navy at an early age was a World War II Veteran. Mr. Teal served on the USS Thor, USS Helena, USS Pollock, and was retired after twenty-three years of service. Following his retirement from the military, he was employed with Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock for fifteen years before moving to Ozark in 1977. Mr. Teal was also retired from Alabama Power Company. He was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #287 in Skipperville. Mr. Teal was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ozark. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Maxine Carter Teal; two sons, Kenneth D. “Kenny” Teal, Jr and Johnnie Frank Teal; two grandchildren, Nicholas Teal and Hollie Teal Robertson; three siblings, Lewie Frank Teal, Hollis Teal, and Willie Pearl Heath.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Debra Teal Evans (Bill), Ozark; his son, Ronnie W. Teal (Pennie), Suffolk, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Judy E. Shiver Teal, Ozark; twelve grandchildren, Johnnie Frank Teal, Jr., Robert Teal, William Teal, Chris Bond, Kennie Dail Bond, Kendall Hughes, Ryan Teal, Ashlie O’Neill, Austin Teal, Heather Stanford, Brandon Evans, and Tyler Evans; fourteen great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Brandon Evans, Tyler Evans, Ryan Teal, Johnnie Frank Teal, Jr., Eric Stanford, and Joseph Ellison.
