   Mr. Kennon Ariel “Ken” Smith, a resident of Enterprise, Alabama, died at his home Monday evening May 13, 2024. He was 84 years old.


   Funeral services for Ken will be 11:00 A.M Saturday, May 25, 2024, at College Avenue Church of Christ in Enterprise with Minister Caleb Cochran and Minister James Hopkins officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends in the church Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until service time.


   Ken was born March 20, 1940 in Ozark, Alabama to the late William Ogburn Smith and Ethel Bolin Smith. He graduated Valedictorian of his class of 1958 from Carroll High School in Ozark. After graduation he Joined the 131st Tank Battalion of the Alabama Army National Guard and served during the Berlin Crisis. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Auburn University and a Masters Degree in Engineering from Purdue University. Mr. Smith served as an electrical and Aero Space Engineer and retired from the Civil Service at Fort Rucker after over 30 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Armature Radio Relay League (ARRL) with his call sign (W4TKI) and the Alabama District II (Dale County) Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) in Ozark. He enjoyed fishing and most of all he enjoyed and was very involved in Sacred Harp singing for over 50 years.


   He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his four children, Judith Wynell Cotten Smith in 1999; his second wife, Lou Ellen Mills Cutts Smith of Coffee Springs, Alabama in 2021; his oldest son, Kenneth Dewayne Smith Sullivanne of Auburn; one stepson, Steve Cutts of Chancellor, Alabama; his oldest sister, Jane Alice Smith Carte’.


   Survivors include three sons, Brad Smith (Kim), Enterprise; Sam Smith (Carole), Montgomery and William Smith of Enterprise; daughter-in-law, Susan Andrews Sullivanne Bailey (Dewayne), Madison; one stepson, Rick Cutts (Liane) of Enterprise; one step daughter-in-law Kathie McClure Cutts, Chancellor, one sister, Karen Taylor (Hugh) of Ozark; nine grandchildren: Justin, Samantha, Meranda, Mason, Spencer, Matthew, Benjamin, Kayla; fifteen step grandchildren; six great grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren; and one step sister-in-law, Jenelle Cooper, Webb, Alabama. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
