Obituary: Mr. Kevin Earl Vann
Mr. Kevin Earl Vann of Slocomb passed away March 7, 2022 at the age of 55 after battling Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) for five years.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that contributions be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 183 Pleasant Hill Road, Slocomb, AL 36375 in memory of Kevin.
Kevin was born in Dothan, AL May 6, 1966. Kevin became a welder in the mid-1980s and went on to build water towers and steel building all around the United States. He also worked at Tri-Glass, E&H Steel, Cauldwell Tankers, Bryson Crane, Brown Steel, Danco, Phoenix Fabrications and Erectors, Outdoor Aluminum, and Culminating with the Tri-County Pole Co., in Slocomb as a welder. Kevin was the life of the party and loved all his friends. He enjoyed dancing and hanging out with his friends. He was an avid fisherman sinking the line anytime he could with family and friends, diehard Alabama “Roll Tide” fan watching every game, and loved riding motorcycles which he had done for most of his life. Kevin was an all-around great father, son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed making people laugh. He accepted the Lord and was baptized as a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Slocomb, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Earl Vann and grandmother, Essie “Big Mama” Mitchell.
Survivors include his daughter, Courtney Vann 23 years old; son, Chevy Vann four years old; mother, Mary Frances “Fran” Mitchell Vann; sisters: Debi Parnell (Clem) and Cathy Porter (Oren); brothers: Tony Killingsworth (Lynn) and David Killingsworth (Regina); several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; extended family and loved ones.
The family would like to thank the many friends and loved ones that helped over the years while Kevin battled ALS. Also thank all the participates in the ice bucket challenge and a special thank you to the ALS Foundation of Alabama.
