Obituary: Mr. Larry Jerome Hillard, Sr.


 


Mr. Larry Jerome Hillard, Sr. of Hartford went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Flowers Hospital.  He was 69. 


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb.  Interment will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 


Mr. Hillard was born April 4, 1955, in Geneva County to the late Theotis and Ella Mae McClendon Hillard. Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired after 21 years of honorable service. After his retirement he was employed as the manager of the tool department at Lowes.  Larry enjoyed DIY projects and was an avid fisherman. 


In addition to his parents, one sister, Diane Hillard; and two brothers: Joe Nathan Hillard, and Otis Hillard, all preceded him in death. 


Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 41 years, Mae Joyce Hillard; sons: Larry Jerome Hillard, Jr. (Christine), Tarry Tyrone Hillard, David “D.A.” Payne, Eric Hetrick, and Marcus Dwayne Hillard (Kimberlee); a host of grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
