Larry Roland Chaney, a resident of Cowarts, died Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his residence. He was 88.

Memorial services for Larry will be held at 2 PM Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Kocsis officiating.

Larry was born November 26, 1935 in Moberly, Missouri to the late Russell Wood and Ethalene Pitney Chaney. He joined the United States Navy and then began a career in automotive having been a mechanic and later retiring as the Director of Transportation for the City of Dothan. Larry was a Mason, member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an avid NASCAR fan.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Stephanie Chaney and two brothers, Gary and Russell Chaney.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Chaney; children, Linda Lambert (Edward), Greg Chaney and Scott Chaney; grandchildren, John Ryan Arnold, Shanna Earnest, Mathew Lambert, Tyler Chaney, Katelyn Clements and Danielle Emfinger; six great grandchildren; sister, Danna Moore and a brother, Jim Chaney.
