Mr. Larry “Sarge” Kenneth Singletary, age 80, a resident of Dothan, died early Sunday, September 1, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend’s Rodney Anderson, Michael Lawson, and Joe Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery near Fadette with U.S. Air Force Honors and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m., Wednesday at Glover Funeral Home Chapel prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Baptist Church, 3551 Flowers Chapel Road, Dothan, Al. 36305.
Mr. Singletary was born on June 8, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Cader Lee Singletary and Esther (Kirkland) Singletary. He was a 1962 Graduate of Slocomb High School and was retired MSGT from the U.S. Air Force following 23 years of service. Larry worked 16 years with Brinks as a driver following his military retirement. He was a member of Pathway Baptist Church and a former member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Singletary Pettigrew; a brother, Eugene Singletary; and a sister-in-law, Sue Singletary.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Neta Simmons Singletary, Dothan; son, Steven Singletary (Kristin) of Plant City, Fl.; daughter, Melissa Singletary Mertes (Jason), Dothan; son-in-law, Jim Pettigrew, Dothan; 6 grandchildren, Paul Bourasso (Miranda), Kenny Singletary (Heather), Lauren Hall (Aaron), Jordan Singletary, Mason Singletary, Luke Mertes; 2 great-granddaughters, Jacie and Maci Hall; 1 niece and 3 nephews.
Active pallbearers will be: Ronnie Caraway, Craig Thomas, Jim Pettigrew, Don Parker, Jim Whaley, and John Baxley.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles Powell and David Graham.
