Lee “Skid” Skidmore, a resident of Dothan died Tuesday June 19, 2012 at his residence. He was 77.
Funeral services for Mr. Skidmore will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 at Cloverdale Baptist Church with Reverends Henry Johnson and Dennis Singletary officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with military honors and Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Thursday June 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the hospice of your choice.
Mr. Skidmore was born in Cimmeron, Kansas on June 16, 1935 to Harvey and Hazel Ott Skidmore. He was a 1954 graduate of Cimmeron High School where he was an excellent athlete, lettering in all sports. Mr. Skidmore joined the United States Army and served for six years. He ran a printing press and had a love for crafts and woodworking. Mr. Skidmore was an avid outdoorsman who had a knack for telling jokes.
Mr. Skidmore is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rita Skidmore and two sisters, Donna Unruh and Jane Swaffer.
Survivors include his, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lori Anne Skidmore, Dothan; two daughters, Pam and Ron Gerstbauer, S. Bend, IN, Helen Kuszmaul and Brad, Elkton, Maryland; grandchildren, Adam Gerstbauer (Megan), Ann Gerstbauer, Daniel Gerstbauer, Megan Mixon, Trey Skidmore; two great-grandchildren, Landon Mixon and Aurelia Gerstbauer; brother, Gary Skidmore, Montezuma, Kansas; four sisters, Rustie Garlock, Whittier, California, Jackie Boyd, Montezuma, Kansas, Janet McLaughlin, Dexter, Kansas and Doris Price, Hutchinson, Kansas.
