Mr. Lewis A. Goff, or Junior as he was called, was born in Chancellor, Alabama on October 2, 1925 the son of Lewis Alexander Goff, Sr. and Nora Howell Goff and attended school in Coffee Springs.  He later married his wife Alene.  Mr. Goff enjoyed traveling and playing billiards in his leisure time.  Mr. Goff served under General Patton in the United States Army’s 3rd Army Division from 1944 through 1946 in combat operations during WWII.  In just two short years Mr. Goff earned the U.S. Army’s good conduct Medal, U.S. Army’s Occupational Meda, The U.S. Army’s WWII Victory Medal, and the U.S. Army’s Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster.  These accolades speak to the heart of a true American hero.  When asked, and as humble you would expect a hero to be, Mr. Goff just said, “I was the smallest, but I made it, and I hung with the big boys.” After the Victory in WWII Mr. Goff went on to play professional billiards where he was known as “Lefty”, and was at one time ranked number two in the world.  Mr. Goff said of all the things he has done in his life, he is most proud of his service to his country, his mother Nora Lee, being saved and becoming a Christian.  Mr. Goff was a member of Memphis Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alene Goff; several siblings.

He is survived by several special family members and friends.

Asked to serve as pallbearers will be: Pat McNeill, Darren Henry, Mike Goodson, Warren Abraham, Doug Hawkins and John Wohlwend.
