OZARK… Mr. Libbern Charles “Chuck” Cook (CW4, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Dale Medical Center. He was 91.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Charles Goldsmith officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cook, son of the late William Jennings Cook, Sr. and Melvina Spencer Cook was a native of Sherrill, Arkansas. He became a river boat pilot at the age of 16 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. He served a total of twenty-four years in the Army, serving two tours in Vietnam as a recovery pilot and a test pilot. Mr. Cook owned and operated a automobile sales business in Ozark for eleven years. He was the past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #94 in Ozark for several years. Mr. Cook enjoyed fishing and hunting, working on cars, and was a master craftsman. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Caitlyn Cook; siblings, William Jennings (Junior) Cook, II, Allen Wilmer (Shorty) Cook, Lloyd Jack Cook, William Homer Cook, and Roy Kenneth Cook, Sr.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Christine V. Cook, Ozark; three sons, Libbern G. Cook (Ruth), Redlands, California, Leslie L. Cook (Linda), Redlands, California, and Joey D. Cook, Daleville; a sister, Lenora Cockrell, Arkansas; grandchildren, Tara Caldwell, Lindsay Hull, Camille Gelston, Adam Cook, Jacob Cook, and Noah Cook; great-grandchildren, Samuel Kalama, Isaac Kalama, Shea Kalama, Charlie Hull, Claire Hull, Hannah Hull, Winston Hull, William Hull, Teva Gelston, June Gelston, and Rowan Gelston; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
