DALEVILLE…Mr. Loran Rae Patterson (Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Daleville, died early Saturday morning, August 10, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 81.


            Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends following the graveside. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark was in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. Patterson, son of the late Bernard Ray Patterson and Helen Murphy Patterson, was a native of Clarksburg, West Virgnia. He lived in various locations in the United States and overseas before moving to Daleville/Ft. Rucker area in 1970. Mr. Patterson was retired from the United States Army after serving twenty years. He served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam before retiring at Ft. Rucker. Mr. Patterson used his GI bill to earn a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from Troy University. Prior to his second retirement, he was very active with the Daleville Department of Public Safety, particularly the fire and rescue squad. Mr. Patterson loved Daleville and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Patterson.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Jackie M. Sievers; a beloved niece, Janel Moore.
