Mr. Lorell Pinkerton of Geneva passed away at Wiregrass Medical Center on March 12, 2012. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Westside United Methodist Church with Rev. John Woodrow officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at Westside United Methodist Church on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Pinkerton was born in Geneva County, AL on May 2, 1932 to the late James and Rosie Baxley Pinkerton. For forty-two years, Mr. Pinkerton was a store manager and supervisor at Benson Wholesale and Fleming Foods. He later owned and operated Piggly Wiggly in Panama City, FL. Mr. Pinkerton retired and sold the business in 1990. In 1994 he moved back to Geneva to enjoy his retirement. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Spicer and Merle Allen; and his brother, Dewey Pinkerton.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Malva L. Pinkerton; daughter, Jan Motley (Rocky); son, Jim Pinkerton, all of Geneva; two grandchildren, Eddie Motley (Staci) of Bonifay, FL and LeeAnn Motley (Casey Fink) of Geneva; four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kole, Chase and Koen; sister, Evelyn Ward of Samson; and several nieces and nephews.
