Mr. Louie Carter of Samson passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was 93. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the Samson First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Kuhn and Mr. Travis Carter, officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family requests that social distancing be followed and that all attendees are masked.
Mr. Carter was born in Coffee County, AL on March 30, 1927, to the late John Hill Carter and Estelle Floyd Carter. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Carter owned and operated Carter Logging for more than fifty years. During this time, he worked alongside his three sons and numerous family members. He enjoyed making music, fishing, and spending time outdoors. But his greatest love of all was for his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Odessa Carter; son, Emmett Earl Carter; sister, Vera Jennings; and five brothers, Winford Carter, Hulon Carter, Olan Carter, Carlton Carter, Lavon Carter.
He is survived by two sons, Travis E. Carter (Lowett) of Samson, and Bobby Carter (Donna) of Freeport, FL; daughter, Barbara Adams (Billy), and Gloria Faye Carter, both of Samson; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
