ARGUTA COMMUNITY…Mr. Luther M. Strickland, a resident of the Arguta Community, near Ozark, died early Friday afternoon, July 26, 2024, at his home. He was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 29, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Adam Mulliner officiating. Burial will follow in Post Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Strickland, son of the late Joel Murphy Strickland and Ethel Duver Gunter Strickland, was a native of the Longstreet Community in Coffee County. He formerly lived in the Dillard Community, Post Oak Community, before moving to Arguta. In earlier years, he was employed with Coastline Railroad, Marvin Parker Construction Company, Doug Gulledge’s Sawmill, and was retired from the Dale County Road & Bridge Department as a foreman. Mr. Strickland attended Holmes Baptist Church in Elamville. One of his favorite things to do was to work in his garden. He always had a garden and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his children, Tommy Strickland, Duver Strickland, and Larry Strickland; siblings, Hanson Strickland, Aaron Strickland, Marcus Strickland, Dewitt Strickland, Maurine Bell, and Kathleen Grimes; son-in-law, Jerry D. Strickland.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-nine years, Bertha Lee Ammons Strickland, Arguta Community; three daughters, Debra Strickland, Sheila Kissinger (Mike), all of Ozark, and Darlene Partridge (Mike), Horn Lake, Mississippi; son, Ricky Strickland, Ozark; eight grandchildren, Shilo Beving, Ricky Lee Strickland, Nick Kissinger, Candace Weitzman, Brandy Clark, Holly Jimmerson, Jered Webster, and Dustin Webster; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his special nephew, Jerry A. Strickland.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Brad Gavins, Bryan Gavins, Jeff Dunn, Clint Dunn, Bobby Strickland, and Jerry L. Strickland.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center for their loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Strickland and his family during this time.
