Mr. Manuel Lamont “Book Salads” Keener, age 48, a resident of Dothan, died unexpectedly Monday, November 22, 2021, at Southeast Health.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Willie Barkley and Brother Lawrence Keener, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing. The family will receive friends at Glover Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the family for a headstone.
Mr. Keener was born on December 2, 1972, in East Saint Louis, Illinois the son of Larry Sorrell and Veronica Marie Keener. He was a 1991 graduate of Northview High School. Manuel received his B.S. in Finance and Masters of Science in Economics from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville and was a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics. Mr. Keener was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church and he was employed as a sales agent with Johnson Allstate Agency in Dothan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Veronica Marie Keener.
He is survived by his Father, Larry Sorrell (Linda), Florissant, MO.; 2 sisters, Vania Keener, Ft. Mitchell, Al.; Natali Keener-Rich (Michael), Dothan; 3 brothers, Justin A. Keener, Dothan; Lawrence Keener, Sr. (Winsome), Dothan; Andre Sorrell, Pensacola, FL.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts.
Pallbearers will be: Germaine Johnson, Charles “Chucky” Johnson, Dr. William Veale, Thadeus Dawsey, Robert Hewes, Marcus Wright and Reginald Bush.
