Mr. Marcus Gillespie (Marty) Whiddon of Dothan, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at his residence. He was 82.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Everett Easton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday, March 4, 2012. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Landmark Park, or to Gentiva Hospice.

 

Mr. Whiddon was born July 9, 1929, in Dale County Alabama, the son of the late John Lott Whiddon and Ila Leota Buckner Whiddon. He was a member of Taylor Baptist Church, a loving husband, and a licensed Southern Baptist Minister. He was an active musician, and a songwriter of Country and Gospel Music, and a volunteer with Landmark Park.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother, John Whiddon (Long John).

 

Survivors include his wife, Robbie Scott Whiddon of Dothan; and several loving nieces and nephews.
