Mr. Marion Jackson Creel of Dothan passed away on Wednesday, November 1st at Flowers Hospital. He was 84.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 4th from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. with David Del Vechio of Christ Church International officiating. Arrangements are by Ward-Wilson Funeral Home.
Jack was born November 10, 1932 to the late Thomas Jefferson Creel and Hazel Hurst Creel in Cowarts, Alabama. Mr. Creel was a graduate of Dothan High School and received a football scholarship to Auburn University and also ran for the Auburn track team where he held the record for the 220 yard dash for twenty years. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Seaborn, on June 6th, 1953.
After graduating from Auburn in 1954, Jack became a high school teacher and coach in Andalusia, Alabama, and then enrolled in the Air Force in Montgomery, Alabama. Once completing his time in the Air Force, Jack began to work for his father at Hazel Hurst Laundry and Cleaners and became the first laundry manager at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Jack later began his own building company in 1972 and was in the building industry for thirty years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his children Connie Creel Ridley (Jim) of Dothan, Patricia Creel Morley (Ron) of Mobile, and David Jackson Creel (Tracy) of Dothan; sister Kay Creel Frith, six grandchildren Shea McGill (Andy) of Mobile, Christen Price (Raleigh) of Dothan, Hayden Blighton (Josh) of Smyrna, GA, Courts Ridley (Leslie) of Daphne, Danielle Gates (Leebo) of Mobile, and Tanner Creel of Dothan; and six great-grandchildren Riley and Alex McGill, Adeline, Maralee and Ridley Price, and Nora Ridley.
Pallbearers will be Courts Ridley, Tanner Creel, Raleigh Price, Andy and Riley McGill, and Leebo Gates.
Jack was a man of God, kind to everyone he met, and loved by many. He attended Cornerstone Church.
