Martin “Billy” Wells, a longtime resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on May 25, 2023 after a brief illness.


Billy was born on June 10, 1943, in Savannah, GA and moved his family to Dothan in 1976 to manage the local Pittsburgh Paints store. A few years later, he opened his own business, Tri-State Paint, which he operated successfully with his wife Patti for over 35 years.


Billy was a member of First Baptist Church in Dothan for 43 years, which is where he came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.


Billy was also a loving family man. He married Patricia Robinson in 1965, and was her devoted husband for over 57 years. Billy and Patti has three sons, Alan (Stephanie) of Eufaula, AL, Richard (Jennifer) of Dothan, AL, and Jason (Tammy) of Lexington, SC. Billy was also known as “Grandbuddy” by his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Ronnie Wells, of Savannah, GA and a sister, Cindy Sutlive, of Rincon, GA, along with several nieces and nephews.


Billy was predeceased by his father, Martin Wells and his mother, Johnnie Wells, both of Savannah, GA.


Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of Billy’s life at 11 AM with Dr. Taylor Rutland officiating.
