Mr. Matthew L. Rice of Ashford passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, He was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Ashford First Assembly with Reverends Jerry Whitt, Max McKinney and Eddie Littlefield officiating.

Burial will follow at Ashford City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 3:30 P.M. Sunday, October 8, 2017. Flowers will be accepted.

Mr. Rice was a member of Ashford First Assembly.

He is preceded in death by his parents William Spurgeon Rice and Velma Bradshaw Rice.

Survivors include his wife Elrena B. Rice, daughter Sharon Dixon (Johnny), sister Wylene Givens (Leon), brother Nathanael Rice (Brenda), grandchildren Joshua Dixon (Anna), Jenna Brooke Dixon, sister-in-law Shirley Ginovsky (Bob), brothers-in-law Roland Bowers, Ronnie Bowers Jeanette), and several nieces and nephews.
