Mr. Merrell Manley, age 81, a resident of Dothan, died Monday October 12, 2015 at his residence after an extended illness.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday October 14, 2015 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Clark officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery (Hwy. 431 N.) with Kendall Glover directing.


 The family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Glover Funeral Home.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 E. Cottonwood Rd., Dothan, Al. 36301.


 Mr. Manley was born on July 23, 1934 in Georgia the son of Colby Jackson Manley and Nettie Mae Vaughn Manley.  He was retired after 40 years as a Air Craft Inspector at Ft. Rucker.  Mr. Manley was a U.S. Air Force Veteran; a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Open Sunday School Class.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Molly Cheatwood; 2 brothers, Emory Manley & his twin brother, Terrell; 2 aunts, Lois Dunham & Jessie Vaughn.


Survivors include: Loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Cobb Manley, Dothan; 2 daughters, Marsha Stepler (Harold), Dothan; Mona Manley Whiddon, Beaufort, S.C.; a son, Morris A. Manley (Evon), Dothan; 3 grandchildren, Mandi Manley, Dothan; Wade Stepler, Panama City Bch., Fl.; Miles Whiddon, Tallahassee, Fl.; 2 great-grandchildren, Kali & Carly; special sister-in-law, Marie Doster (Kent), San Antonio, Tx.; special family, Beverly Manley & James Jones, Huntsville; 2 nephews, Jeff & David Manley, San Antonio, Tx.; a niece, Tina Barnes, Oklahoma City, OK.


Active pallbearers will be: Miles Whiddon, Wade Stepler, Joe Cobb, David Manley, Chuck Roberts, Chad Roberts and Kevin Seay.


Honorary pallbearers will be: Members of the Men’s Open Sunday School Class at Bethel Baptist Church.
