Michael Daryl Watson, known affectionately as “Daddy Buck” to his friends and family, passed away on May 9, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on April 9, 1956, Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace and joy in hunting and fishing, activities that not only brought him closer to nature but also provided cherished memories with family and friends. Golfing was another passion, offering him both challenge and relaxation. Mike was also a fervent fan of Alabama football, cheering on his team with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Sheila Watson, and their combined children: Ryan Watson and his wife Megan, Natalie Solomon and her husband Scott, Whitney Watson and her partner Gaylon Hagerty, Erica Ingalls and her husband George, and Pam Ivey. He was a proud grandfather to Dillan and Ella Solomon, Jon Preston Ingalls, and Jackson Ivey, who will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind his brothers, Rick Watson and his wife Kathy, and Chris Watson and his wife Marie and numerous other relatives and friends. Mike’s feline companions, Lulu and Harry Potter, will undoubtedly feel the absence of their loving owner.

Preceding him in death were his father, Bobby Dick Watson, his mother, Sue Carolyn Watson, and his brother, Kenneth Eugene Watson, who have now welcomed him into eternal rest.

Mike’s professional life was marked by dedication and service. He retired from Watson Electric, a company that benefited greatly from his expertise and commitment. His career also included 20 years as a lineman with the City of Dothan, where his work ethic and camaraderie were highly valued by his colleagues and the community he served.

One of Mike’s greatest pleasures came from playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. His presence at family gatherings was a source of laughter and love, and his absence will be deeply felt by all.

Mike’s legacy is one of laughter, generosity, and unwavering love. His ability to bring humor into any situation will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Michael "Daddy Buck" Watson, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind, and the stories of his life will be recounted with smiles and fondness. Mike’s journey on earth has ended, but his story will continue to inspire and comfort us for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, May 13, 2024 from the Chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Roger Johnson, Keith Lewis, Allen Monday, David Hughes and Jared Leverette.
