Mr. Monroe Mitchell Lee, age 84, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Born May 24, 1937 in New Hope, Alabama to the late Lucius Lee and Vonnie Anderson Lee, Monroe served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Pentecostals of Dothan where he was an Elder and served on the Board. Monroe was the longest serving Chairman of the Board for Solutions First Credit Union and owned Red House Books in Dothan. In his spare time, he enjoyed building, gardening, and fishing. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Lee, Kenneth Lee, and Britt Lee; his sister, Annie Glenn Brooks; and his son-in-law, Paul Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nellie Lee; his daughters, Teresa Nyman (Bryan), Wendy Ulry (Shayne), Regina Miller, and Ellen Foster (Don); his grandchildren, Cliff Nyman, Ashton Foster (Preston), John Paul Miller (Brittany), Andrea Foster (Austin), Landon Miller, Caitlin Ulry, and David Anthony Ulry “Bubby”; his great-grandchildren, Jacelyn Miller, Layla Stanley, Brayden Stanley, and Kade Sellers; his sisters, Erma Nell Russell, Sue Milhorn, and Sandra Ivey; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM, Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Stephen Williams, Reverend Joe Patterson, and Reverend Philip Harrelson officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Assembly of God Church Cemetery.
