Mr. Murry Gene Ard of Dothan passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2014,one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Ard was born August 19, 1931, in Geneva County, AL and moved to Dale County at an early age. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953 serving on the USS OrisKany. He was a plumber and electrician for several companies before starting his own business in 1964. He retired in 2007. Mr. Ard enjoyed gardening, motorcycle riding, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and meeting people.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ridlia Ard, and two brothers, Cecil Ard and C.D. Ard.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jean Ard of Dothan; daughters, June French and her husband Eugene of Dothan; Dianne Coleman Weeks and her husband Lowell of Headland; son, Bruce Ard and his wife Sonya of Dothan; grandchildren, James (Sherri) French of Pike Rd, AL; Jane (Milton) Cuizon of Dothan ; Hannah Ard of Dothan; step-grandchildren, Ashley Reed, Bryan Lingo, great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Ard, Kyla Baker, step-great-grandchildren, Kathryn Lingo, Danielle McLeod, Buddy Reed, Khloie Lingo, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
