Mr. Namie Baxter, 96, a resident of Ozark passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014.


Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at Stringer Street A.M.E. Church with Rev. Fredrick Sherrod, III officiating. Burial will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Mr. Namie Baxter was born April 21, 1918 in Dale County, Alabama to the late William and Sweetie Baxter. He and his family moved to Dothan, AL in 1959. He was a faithful member of Stringer Street A.M.E. Church. He departed this life December 4, 2014 at Oakview Manor in Ozark, AL. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Annie Lois Baxter in 1937. To this union 7 children were born.


He was preceded in death by his loving wife Annie Lois Baxter; two daughters, Versie Lee Poke and Hattie Lois Griffin and 1 son, Frankie Lee Baxter.


He leaves to cherish his loving memory 2 daughters, Callie Baxter of Dothan, AL and Reba Brackin of Newville, AL; 2 sons, Frederick Charles Baxter of San Bernadino, CA, Caleb (Marie) Baxter of Dothan, AL; 25 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great grandchildren; a special nephew Willie Roy Robinson; several nieces and nephews; a host of relatives and friends.
