It is with great sadness that the family of Nicholas Dale Short (34) of Dothan, Alabama announces his passing on August 28, 2021, following a brief illness.

Funeral service for Nicholas will be held at 2 PM Friday, September 3, 2021 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Pastor Randall Short and Reverend Chad Hixon officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home Thursday, September 2, 2021.

Nicholas was a 2005 graduate of Rehobeth High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama. He was a former employee of Edward Jones and an Electrician at Farley Nuclear Plant, where he was a member of the IBEW Local 796. When Nicholas was not enjoying time with his family and friends, he enjoyed spending time on his boat at the beach, deep sea fishing, watching Alabama football, duck hunting, cooking and grilling out. Nicholas had a contagious laugh and was always finding humor in situations. He loved big, and he considered the title of “daddy” and “Uncle Bubba” one of his highest accomplishments.

Nicholas is preceded in death by his grandparents; Howard and Mary Frances Wright and Anna F. Short.

Nicholas will be sadly missed by his children, Nicholas Carter Short and Emma Caroline Short; parents, Dale and Judy Short; sister, Alison Thomley (Kitt); grandfather, Thomas Edward Short; niece and nephew, Addison Claire and Collins Thomley and the mother of his children, Anna Short; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
