Mr. O’Neal Johnson of Coffee Springs passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Ray Layton and Rev. Hollis Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 15, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Johnson was born in Coffee County on August 2, 1926 to the late Lee Noah Johnson and Gennia Bell Ellenburg Johnson. He served in the US Army during WWII where he earned the reputation of a marksman. Mr. Johnson worked all his life as a carpenter. He and his brother built hundreds of homes throughout the Wiregrass. His wife, Bertha Jean Johnson; daughter, Wanda Austin; and two brothers, Lee Junior Johnson and Charles Tommy Johnson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his two sons, Ricky Johnson and wife, Tammie of Coffee Springs, and Mark Johnson and wife, Kathy of Hartford; eleven grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
