   Mr. Paul Eugene "Paulie" Simmons Jr., a resident of Ozark, died Sunday evening December 3, 2023 at Southeast Health in Dothan surrounded by his family. He was 56 years old.


   Funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 7, 2023 from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Eric Fuller officiating.


   Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Thursday in the church from 12:30 P.M. until service time.


   Mr. Simmons was born January 30, 1967 in Ozark, Alabama. Paulie graduated from Carroll High School in 1985 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Troy University in Dothan. He was a social worker with the Department of Human Resources in Dale County and Henry County for many years. Mr. Simmons was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in the Bertha Community. Paulie was a selfless person, a devoted father, brother, son and grandfather who loved his family.


   He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Eugene Simmons, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Rex and Lola Payne; and his paternal grandparents, Gus and Pauline Simmons.


   Survivors include two sons, Jake Simmons (Amanda) and Jesse Lee (Jaci) ; his mother, Jayne Payne Simmons; one sister, Beverly Jackson (Dr. Doug Jackson); and one brother, Ashley Simmons (Jerri Ann Simmons); grandchildren, Jackson Paul “Jack” Simmons and Charlotte Ray “Lottie” Lee. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.


   In lieu of flowers, please give to any organization that helps deserving children receive Christmas gifts.
