Phillip Fredrick Mayne 88, of Dothan, AL, lovingly known to many as Papa Freddie went to be with His Lord and Savior on September 18, 2023.
Freddie was born on May 18, 1935 in Valdosta, GA. to William and Lucille Phillips Mayne. Freddie served in the Army National Guard in Georgia and he retired from Georgia Pacific after 32 years. He later worked for Deanco Auction 18 years and retired. Freddie loved his Lord, his family and friends. He loved to travel with his loving wife Sue in their motor-home. He liked to spend weekends on his PaperMaker. He was an avid Alabama fan, loved to fish and loved his Yorkies, Maggie and Penny. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sue Mayne; his children, daughters Lori Rupert (Bret), Kerri Schwister (Brad), Deanna Proper, Gena Cordero (Eduardo); sister, Sherry Cross, grandchildren, Andrew Rupert (Megan), Courtney Rupert, Ashley Lytle (Bret), Austin Horlebein, Brittney Evans (Michael); great-grandchildren, Celine Rupert, Enzo Rupert, Shelby Quinn Evans, Aevin Jean Lytle, sister, Sherry Cross, and several nieces and nephews.
The service for Mr. Mayne will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Brother Doug McCormick, pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 to 10 A.M. Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
