Porter Max Hallford, 85, of Midland City passed away Tuesday morning, October 6th.
Max, as he was called, died doing what he loved – caring for the home and land he and his wife shared. Max retired after 43 years from Howell Plywood in 2007. People were drawn to Max’s kind smile, wisdom, and his ability to make anyone feel like family. Max had a strong faith and enjoyed sharing what the Lord had done in his life. He could be found on any given day building something, but more than his love for carpentry, he treasured his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ammon and Jewel Hallford, his grandson, Michael Ashley Hallford, and his son-in-law, Glen Eugene Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Hallford and by his children and their spouses: Jerry and Ginette Hallford, Patricia and Kim Keener, Janet Anderson, Daniel and Teresa Hallford, Sue Hallford, Kathy and Ronnie Bruce, Sylvia and Billy Quattlebaum, and Debbie and Ricky Nolen. He had 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Gene Hallford, wife Brenda and his sister Mary Chandler.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 9, 2015 from Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Dean and Reverend Ed Quattlebaum officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Ewell Faith Tabernacle, 3949 East Highway 27, Ozark, AL 36360
May Max’s belief in heavenly tomorrows give comfort to all who miss him.
