Mr. Ralph Eugene Sizemore, of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Troy Health and Rehabilitation in Troy. He was 95.
Born November 23, 1921 in Houston County to the late William Burl and Lennie Nora Sewell Sizemore, Mr. Sizemore was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Army from November 1942 to November 1945. He was in the 184th Infantry, 7th Division. His tour of duty included Aleutian Islands, Hawaiian Islands, Marshall Islands, Phillippine Islands, Okinawa and Korea. After his military service, Mr. Sizemore owned a farm and worked until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, feeding his birds, and playing ball with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Louise Sizemore; eight brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynda (Don) Reaves and Elaine (Scott) Howard; his grandchildren, Kelly Howard, Kim Howard, Michael (Jackie) Steinmetz, Melissa Blocker, and Marc (Kaitlin) Pugh; his great-grandchildren, Abigail and Aiden Steinmetz, Braxton, Brittany, and Brenley Blocker, and Presley and Jep Pugh; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, July 3, 2017 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM prior to the service.
