Charles “Ray” Jackson of Dothan passed away Christmas morning at his residence at Wesley Place. He was born August 27, 1927. In his youth he traveled overseas and served two tours in the US Navy. After the service he married in 1951 and began a career in the grocery business where he worked for more than 50 years. After retiring from that career he went on to work in the Dothan City School Systems and retired from there in 2006. The loves of his life were his wife, Rita, working in his yard and especially fishing!
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita G Jackson, and a son, Ferrell Jackson. He is survived by his daughters, Glenda (Chuck) Harbin, Teresa (Blake) Phillips and his son, Rusty (Pam) Jackson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gabe (Tori) Browning, Rachael (Wade) Vick, Chip (Jeanne) Harbin, Lindsay (Chris) Morgan, Garrison Smith, Avery Phillips and Brennan Phillips. He leaves behind a sister, Nell (Ray) Lucas, ten great-grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, December 29, 2016 from the Ward-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Ward Wilson from 10:30 until 11:00 AM prior to the service and at other times in the home of Rusty Jackson at 510 E Wayne Road, Dothan, AL.
He will be missed by all who knew him!
