Reid Simmons Wall, born October 19, 1956, was worshipped home to his Redeemer on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the age of 64. His tender heart and servant’s spirit will be missed by many as he takes on new duties in his heavenly dwelling. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting Papa Reid. A lover of worship throughout his life, he was a gifted musician who shared a passion for music with his wife and others through singing and playing guitar and bass in many venues. He was a faithful worker at his home worship center, Harvest Church in Dothan, Alabama, where he offered sacrifices of praise on their worship team as the bassist. Everywhere Reid lived, he used his gifts and love for music, and since moving to Dothan, he played at Dothan First Assembly of God, was part of the worship group for Celebrate Recovery, led worship for Gospel to the Nations, took part in a 24 hour worship experience called Night of Worship, and played in a house band named Smeared.
Reid was a 1974 graduate of Avon Park High School in Avon Park, Florida, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He attended South Florida Community College, Liberty Bible College and Northwest Shoals Community College. He was a licensed optician and spent many years working in the optometry medical field in Florida, South Carolina and Alabama. (If Reid ever adjusted your glasses, you never wanted another person to get their hands on them!) If he wasn’t playing music, he was cooking. He loved preparing the food as much as partaking of it! This was just one of the many ways he loved and served his family and friends.
Reid is survived by his wife of 43 years, Frannie Addesa Wall; one son and his spouse, Micah and Blayne Wall; two daughters, Rebekah Wall and Tina Wall; ten grandchildren, Kayleigh Wall, Savannah Wall, Jayden Benson, Isabella Adkins, Annie Welch, Weston Welch, Chaz Stadie, Gavin Bartko, Devin Bartko and Alex Bartko; a brother, Brooks Wall; and his sister, Daphne Murrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Florine Wall, his father-in-law, John Addesa, a brother, Bill Wall, and his oldest brother, Warren Wall Jr., joined him at the Throne three days after Reid’s own passing.
A celebration of his homegoing will be held at Harvest Church in Dothan on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00pm. Arrangements are being handled by Ward Wilson Funeral Home, Dothan.
