Reuben LaDon Womack (Happy) of Cottonwood, Alabama, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 70.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Marrell Turvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The body will lie-in-state at the residence from 9:00 A.M. Monday, January 7, 2013 until one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, when it will be placed in the church. Active pallbearers are Reuben (Ben) Womack, Jacob (Scooter) Womack, Aubrey Womack, Aaron Womack, Brent Snell and Keith Traylor. Honorary Pallbearers are Devin Womack, Dale Quattlebaum, Jason Whitehead, Wesley Clark, Corey Johnson, Cody Chrisler, Dennis Lobsinger.
Born January 15, 1942 in Houston County, Alabama, Don was a son of the late Lewis A. and Reatha Adams Womack. He was a graduate of Cottonwood High School and worked with Great Southern Papermill for approximately 24 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Reuben during his illness.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Meadows; two brothers, Rex Womack and Bobby Womack.
Mr. Womack is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Sandra Ann Miller Womack, Cottonwood; a daughter, Starla Denise Womack Lobsinger, New Kirk, Oklahoma; three sons, Dennis Womack, Cottonwood, Joseph DeWayne Womack and wife Johnnie, Cottonwood and Derek Lee Womack and wife Heather., Cottonwood; three brothers, John Lewis Womack, Montgomery, Ray Womack and wife Jackie, Deridder, Louisiana, Tommy Womack and wife Thedus, Cottonwood; a sister, Betty Sue Womack Hall, Cottonwood; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; Special friends, Dale Quattlebaum, Jody Harper, David Meadows and Brenda McKay; several nieces and nephews.
