   Mr. Rex Hilton Brown, a resident of Ozark, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.


   Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 11, 2024, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Woodham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends in the church Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until service time.


   Mr. Brown was born July 1, 1937 at Browns Cross Roads in Dale County, a place he dearly loved. He was a man of the land and he loved God’s land. He had a very long and successful life full of family and friends. His main love in life was his family. Mr. Brown graduated from Ozark High School in 1955 and attended classes at Wallace Junior College. Mr. Brown was employed with M. O. Carroll Wholesale Company for forty years and later served as County Supervisor for the Solid Waste Department of Ozark for sixteen years.


   He was a member of Masonic Lodge #908. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the Army National Guard Ozark 131st Armor Battalion for twelve years. They were mobilized in 1962 to Fort Erwin, California.


   He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Mangum Brown and Helen Woodham Brown; one brother, Richard Douglas Brown; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Langford Logan.


   Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lenora Langford Brown of Ozark; his daughter, Lisa Lynn Clark (Chuck) of Ozark; two grandchildren, David Brown Clark (Skye) of Louisville, Kentucky and Ashley Mostella (Justin) of Odenville, Alabama; one brother, Wesley Brown (Allison) of the Browns Cross Roads Community; one sister-in-law, Judy Wright (Ronald) of Ozark; and one brother-in-law, Robert Logan of Ozark. Several nieces and nephews also survive.


   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Chalkhead Baptist Church or Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
