Mr. Rex Lavon Howell of Ashford died Thursday, February 23, 2012, at his residence. He was 75.


 


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Tommy Martin and Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Love Hill Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2012. Flowers will be accepted.


 


Mr. Howell was born January 1, 1937,  in Panama City, Florida, the son of the late Houston Howell and Blanche Guy Howell. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle. He was a faithful servant, a loving husband. He retired from Dunbarton Corp. in 2007, after 25 years of service. He was also employed at Farley Nuclear Plant for 15 years.


 


He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Glenn, Aaron, and Kenneth Howell.


 


Survivors include his wife, Peggy J. Howell of Ashford; sisters, Edna Merle Johnson and her husband, Roger of Samson, AL; Helen Chalker and her husband, Bobby of Slocomb; brothers, Cecil Howell and his wife, Doris of Ashford; Larry Howell of Cottonwood; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.


 


A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their loving care, and a special thanks to Dr. Ted Paulk for his special care and kindness during his illness.


 


Pallbearers will be Chris McNeal, Charles R. Hinson, Jerome Hinson, Robert Peters, Sr., Robert Peters, Jr., Harvey Chumney, and Dennis Faison.
