MIDLAND CITY… Mr. Richard Allen Black, a resident of Midland City, died early Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 44.


            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Knight officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. Black was born June 6, 1978, in Alexandria, Louisiana and lived in various locations in the United States, while his father served in the United States Air Force. He moved to the Wiregrass area in January 1995 and was a 1996 Graduate of Dale County High School. He attended Wallace Community College and had previously worked in various restaurants as a chef. Mr. Black attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Ruth Smith Black.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Jennifer Evans Black; three daughters, Guinevere Black, Marley Black, and Synthia Black; two sons, Christopher Black and Deacon Black; a granddaughter, Aeris Black; father, James Rayburn Black (Master Sergeant, United States Air Force, Retired), all of Midland City; grandfather, Herschel Creamer (Frances), Newton; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and various close friends.
