Richard David White, 95, passed away quietly and went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 24, 2021.
Richard was born in Pansey, AL in 1925 and graduated from Columbia High School where he met and eventually married Ann, the love of his life and bride of 65 years prior to her passing in 2010.
Mr. White served in the U. S. Army from 1943 – 1946, stationed in the Philippine Islands prior to his honorable discharge as a Technician Fifth Grade in August 1946.
Richard started White Plumbing & Electric Company in 1948, making the business the oldest currently operating plumbing company in Dothan. He was a faithful member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church for many years, serving in numerous leadership positions including Chairman of the Board and multiple committee chairmanships.
Socially, Richard was an avid bird hunter and enjoyed being with his “hunting buddies” in the dove fields. He also was a Charter Member of the Dothan Elks Lodge and the “Green Valley” Hunting Club.
Richard loved life, his Lord, and his family. He was generous to a fault to those in need, compassionate, and a cheerful giver.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Burdeshaw White and daughter, Barbra Kay Parrish.
He is survived by his children, Judy White Detamore & Richard Ronald White; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ward Wilson Funeral Home at 6 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021 with a visitation immediately prior, starting at 5 PM.
