HEADLAND…Mr. Rickey V. Gray, a resident of Headland (formerly of Ozark), died early Friday morning, September 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 68.


            Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.


            Mr. Gray was born June 1, 1955, in Ozark, Alabama and was a 1973 Graduate of Carroll High School. He married the love of his life on June 13, 1975, and moved to Dothan in 1979. Mr. Gray received an Associate’s Degree from Wallace Community College in Electronics. He retired from the State of Alabama in the Department of Transportation Property Offices. Mr. Gray enjoyed fishing, boating, “junking”, traveling, sightseeing with his family, and most of all, University of Alabama Football. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Gray, grandmother, Gladys Simmons German and grandfather, Augustus Tillman German.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Winona Layton Gray, Headland; his daughter, Lisa Marie Gray, Ozark; mother, Jimmie German Gray, Ozark; sister, Brenda Gayle White, Ozark; two grandchildren, Austin Lee Henderson and Leah Marie Henderson; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
