Mr. Robert Ernest Lester, a resident of Ozark, died early Tuesday morning, March 17, 2020, at his home. He was 85 years old.
Private graveside services for Mr. Lester will be held 3:00 P. M. Friday, March 20, 2020, in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com
Mr. Lester was born August 25, 1934 in Pageton, West Virginia to the late Fred Ernest Lester and Elizabeth Jane Cochran Lester. He grew up in Montcalm, West Virginia and joined the United States Air Force at the age of seventeen where he served for two years. Mr. Lester then transferred to the United States Army and served for twenty-one years, retiring in 1973 with three tours in Vietnam. Following his military service, Mr. Lester worked with various aircraft maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker as an aircraft mechanic, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local Lodge 2003. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Marie Lester; one sister, Nancy Helen Sheriff; two brothers; Martin Edward Lester and Fred Arnold Lester.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Brewster Lester; two daughters, Carol Sue Phelps and Margaret Ann Homan; four grandchildren, James Robert Vines, Magen Elizabeth Vines, Cory Allen Homan and Shane Alexander Homan; four great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Richard, Kenneth, Ted, Dean, Joe, David, Danny and Libby.
