Keith was born to the late Robert and Shirley Lawson Pettie on September 28, 1966, in Andalusia, Alabama. After serving his country in the United States Marine Corps he spent twenty years as a Corrections Officer before taking a medical retirement. His hobbies included reading, shooting targets, and listening to Elvis Presley. He never met a stranger and didn’t mind giving you his political views about the direction of this country. Keith was a devout Christian who passionately loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for sixteen years along with his wife of thirty-three years Stephanie Hurst Pettie. Nothing brought him more joy than spending precious time with his family on the family farm. The utmost importance was making lasting memories with his grandson CJ, highlighted by Keith teaching CJ how to pray.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Pamela Pettie.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife; one daughter Tatum McClendon; one son Kaleb Pettie (Sherie); one brother, Kevin Pettie (Melissa); one grandson C.J. McClendon; along with many sisters in laws, brothers in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
