Mr. MacConnell was born June 13, 1960 to the late William MacConnell and Vera Francis Beasley Sorrells. Robert, better known as Bobby, grew up in Virginia. He met his wife of 42 years in Hartford as a childhood friend. They began dating in high school and married in 1978. They went on to have 5 children. As an adult he moved to Kansas and became a millwright by trade. That career took him to Alabama, back to Virginia and eventually home to Alabama. Bobby was an avid reader and as such, he was a plethora of knowledge and skill. He loved to share that knowledge with his children and grandchildren. Bobby had a love of reptiles and could always find one to show off. He enjoyed cryptozoology and unexplained mysteries. He also loved painting and crafting; pretty much anything that involved using his hands. In his later years he was caregiver to many of his grandchildren during the day. He always had a cooley pop ready after a trip to the library. He loved teaching and spoiling all of his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sheryl Sorrells Fuelling, and his step-father, Treadwell Sorrells.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Carter MacConnell; daughters: Candice Leigh Parris (Josh), and Connie Dyan Fritzler (Chris); sons: Michael David MacConnell (Valorie), Thomas Aubrey MacConnell (Danielle) and Robert Taylor MacConnell (Brianna); grandchildren: Marley Grace, Caylin, Ayden, Sammy, Liam, Declan, Abigail, Jackson, Tenley, MacKenzie, Mildred, and Aubree; sisters: Tamara Marie Sorrells, and Vera Katherine Avery; brother, William Parish MacConnell; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
