Robert Paul McCollough, Jr., a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Southeast Health following a brief illness. He was 53.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Whitewater Baptist Church cemetery in Elba, Alabama with Reverend Bob Sanders officiating. The family kindly requests those who are planning to attend to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing due to the ongoing pandemic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whitewater Baptist Church 4133 Alabama Highway 125 Elba, Alabama 36323.
Paul was born January 21, 1968 in Montgomery, Alabama to Robert Paul and Alice Johnson McCollough, Sr. He was raised in Dothan and graduated from Dothan High School in 1986. Following graduation, Paul honorably served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles and served in combat in Operation Desert Shield. He was awarded several medals for exemplary service including a Combat Infantry Badge, Army Air Assault Badge, and Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Paul was proud of his service to our country, and we were exceptionally proud of his achievements. Following his career in the military, Paul obtained a Computer Information degree from Troy University in Dothan.
Paul is preceded in death by his mother, Alice J. McCollough.
Survivors include his father, Robert Paul McCollough, Sr.; children, Miles and Kathleen McCollough; sister, Allison Middlebrooks (Marty); nieces and nephews, Meredith Middlebrooks, John Martin Middlebrooks (Laura), Margaret Poston (Andrew) and Matthew Middlebrooks (Caroline).
