OZARK…Mr. Robert Roy "Big L" German, a resident of Ozark, near Newton, died early Saturday morning, January 6, 2024, at his home. He was 80.


            Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Matthew Davidson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. German, son of the late Robert Moses German and Blondell McKee German, was a native of Henry County and moved to Ozark, near Newton, in the late 1980’s. He retired from Twitchell after fifty-four years’ employment. Mr. German was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Morgan German; a son, Gary “Pee Wee” German; two sisters, Annie Mae German and Lottie Shiver; a brother, Roscoe F. German.


            Surviving relatives include his son, Charles Roy German (Donna), Atmore; three grandchildren, Charles Ryan German, Haleigh Bartlett (Kenny), and Chelsea Wilson (Jesse); three great-grandchildren, Waylon Bartlett, Emily Bartlett, and Stacie Wilson; sisters, Melba Slaughter, Lucy Palmer, Ozark, Linda Cook (Mixon), Ozark, Illene Cummings (Billy Ray), Skipperville, and Pauline Cummings (Floyd), Ozark; brothers, Kenneth German (Glenda) and Ronnie German (Teri), Ozark; sister-in-law, Delores Lancaster German; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
