Robert Stephen Durham, a.k.a. Bull Durham, 53, of Dothan Alabama passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Harry Ronald Durham, Sr., and Judy Seymore Howell.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2 PM in the Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Chuck Locke officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Stephen's love for animals, donations may be made to Wiregrass Pet Rescuce and Adoption Center 106 Adris Place Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Stephen was born on October 6, 1970, in Asheboro, North Carolina. He grew up in Dothan, Alabama and is a graduate of Dothan High School. He earned his associate degree from Wallace Community College and became a Licensed Paramedic. In his early years, Stephen was a member of Southside Baptist Church. In his youth and later years, he was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He was faithfully involved with his men’s Sunday School class. In his early adult years, he was a Paramedic, with Pilcher’s Ambulance Service. Later, he moved to California to pursue his passion for writing, producing and film making. In recent years, he returned to Dothan to continue his career in the filmmaking industry. Stephen recently embarked on a new venture, as part owner of the Dothan United Soccer Club, where he held the position as the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales.
Stephen had a passion and fullness for life. He loved unconditionally and had a sacrificial love for his family and friends. He had a generous heart. He was known for his humor and quick wit, like no other. His charismatic charm and contagious smile made others feel happy and loved. Stephen loved his son, Andrew. They were committed to taking care of each other and shared a special bond. Stephen had a zest for life and made every moment count. Stephen could always be found enjoying food and fellowship among family and friends. Football was his favorite and he loved the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a known “movie critic” and enjoyed all kinds of movies. Throughout his filmmaking career, he traveled to many countries. By far, Scotland was his favorite.
Stephen is survived by his son, Andrew Durham and his beloved shepherds, Ruby, and Rose. He is also survived by his siblings, Ron Durham (Sandy), Alisha Lewis (Wade), Beth Handal (Nelson), and his aunt and uncle, Ricky Seymore (Sandra), Patsy Moore (late Ludie Moore), Geraldine Durham Garner, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
