Mr. Ronald Frank McCollough, Sr., of Samson passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017. He was 68. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Phillip Cooley, officiating. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. McCollough was born in Geneva County on May 3, 1948, to the late John and Bobbie McCollough. He was preceded in death by two siblings.
He obtained his GED and attended college for two years. He served his country in the Vietnam War. He worked with Farley Nuclear Plant as QA/QC inspector for 11 years and continued his career at other nuclear plants throughout the United States. He loved to grow vegetables and share them with family and friends. Cooking was his passion and he enjoyed providing food for everyone. He had a caring heart and his desire was to be of service to others.
He is survived by his wife, DeFaye Adams McCollough of Samson; four children, Rhonda Faye Shaughnessy (Bill) of LaFayette, AL, Jeffery Scott McCollough (Lisa) of Samson, Amy Marie Evans (Steve) of Wyoming, and Ronald Frank McCollough, II (Christan) of Hartford; eight grandchildren, Caitlyn Danley, Benjamin McCollough, Cierra McCollough, Kyrie Catrett, Kemarie Evans, Kalen Evans, Jace McCollough, and Peyton McCollough; one great-grandchild, Devon Loftin.; and eight of his siblings.
