Roy Harris Riley, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida. He was 65 years old.
Memorial services for Roy will be held at 4 PM Saturday, May 7, 2022, in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until 3:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; ALS Research Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209.
Roy was born July 3, 1956, to the late Harris and Monette Belcher Riley. He was a 1974 graduate of Dothan High School where he played football on the offensive line with his buddies, Ted Bryant, Jeff McKnight, Butch Camp and Mark Carter. He graduated from Auburn University in 1978 with a degree in Business Management and loved keeping up with Auburn athletics. Roy started in the grocery business when he was 15 years old and later retired as a store manager. He put his life on hold to be the primary caregiver for his mother who died from ALS. Roy enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing with his family at Dead Lakes in Wewahitchka, Florida.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Pitt and Lutie Riley, Hoyt and Lucille Belcher; uncles, James Kelly and Buddy Pitman; aunt, Polly Kelly and a cousin, Nancy Kelly Miller.
Survivors include his brother, Scott Riley (Carla); nephew, Davis Riley; aunt, Delayne Pitman; special first cousins, David Kelly (Sharon), Earl Pitman (Dewane), Pam Pitman Brown (Wayne) and other extended family.
