Mr. R.Q. Taylor, 83, a resident of Ashford, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, August 8, 2022, at Union Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Kyle Johnson officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm prior to services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or Children’s of Alabama, 1600 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233.
R.Q. was born July 28, 1939, in Houston County, to the late James Ardell Taylor and Susie Baxley Taylor. He played football at Cottonwood High School where he is a graduate. R.Q. received a football scholarship from the University of Georgia. He later married Elizabeth Gayle Snell Taylor. He was an avid outdoorsman and worked as a mechanic most of his adult career.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Susie and Ardell Taylor, his wife, Elizabeth Gayle Snell Taylor, and two granddaughters, Courtney and Lacey Roland.
Survivors include his children, Scotty Taylor (Angie) of Ashford, Sherri Taylor of Ashford, Monica Roland of Ashford, Ramona Taylor of Cottonwood; grandchildren, Suzanne Booker (Ashton) of Cowarts, Alison Watford (Kyle) of Ashford; great-grandchildren, Dylan Hatcher, Kylie Watford, Aiden Watford, Mason Booker, Ty Booker; sister, Sara Monday (Robert); several nieces and nephews also survive.
