Sammy McCall, Jr., a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at his home after a short illness. He was 73.
Memorial services for Mr. McCall will be held 1 PM, Monday, March 19, 2012 at Cloverdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Lilly officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service. There will be a private burial.
Mr. McCall was born June 16, 1938 in Cottonwood, Alabama to Samuel Mason McCall and Eula Rich McCall. He was a 1956 graduate of Cottonwood High School. Mr. McCall worked in retail for many years. From 1974 to 1991, he was a partner/owner of Saben Appliance. In later years, he was in real estate. He was a faithful member of Cottonwood United Methodist and later Cloverdale United Methodist Church. Mr. McCall was an avid bicyclist and tennis player. As a cyclist, he planned the route and coordinated a century ride he named “3-State 100”, which he ran for 3 years.
Mr. McCall is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Theodore, Edward and Earl Gene McCall.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Mullins McCall, his sons, Samuel Martin McCall and wife, Ashley; Michael Evan McCall and wife, Olesya; grandchildren, Stephen, Caitlin, Matthew, Jacob, Connor, Elizabeth, Sophia; sisters, Sara Pitts, Lonnel Clark and husband, William; Patty Fowler; sisters in law, Lenora McCall, and Zadie McCall; Eleanor’s family; Class of 1956 and many special friends.
