Shelley Boyd, 86, of Dothan passed away Wednesday, January 18. He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered Heaven.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20 at 3:00pm in the chapel at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with the Reverands Mike Grimes and Allen Singley officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm until service time.
Mr. Boyd was born in Blakey, GA but moved to Dothan at an early age. He married the love of his life, Shelby Jean Benton, in 1961 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. He was employed by Dixie Amusement for 40 years. He was an active member of Grandview Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was known for his kindness, humility and how he loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents C.H and Hattie Boyd, brothers C.A. (Bunk), Rossell, Stancil, and Terrell; sisters Liz Moring, Lillian Garrett, and Alyne Mitchell
Survivors include his loving wife Shelby Jean; children Camille Aultman, Greg(Connie), Carol Johnson (Jerry), Melanie Hill (Walter), and Kelli Pylant (Darrel); grandchildren Lane Aultman, Josh Quarles (Rachel), Justin Boyd (Lauren), Beau Quarles, Hannah Rejmenczak (Mike), Brian Jones (Lezlie), Tyler Jones, Jamesen and Presley Pylant; 7 great grandchildren; brother Billy Boyd (Geraldine); sister Betty Dempsey (Richard); numerous nieces and nephews
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2400 Forrester Road, Dothan 36301. We would like to thank niece, Janet Knight and nephew Wayne (Gladys) Lashley who were faithful to visit and were with the family when he passed away. The family will also never be able to repay the staff at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Services and Gentiva Hospice. Your care and love for our loved one will never be forgotten.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Boyd’s grandsons and Jay Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday School Class at Grandview Baptist Church.
