Mr. Steve Grant Berry of Slocomb went to be home with his Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He passed peacefully in his home following a brave battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS. He was 69 years old.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at First Baptist Church Slocomb. Brother Scott King will be leading the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1253 Rucker Blvd., Suite A. Enterprise, Al. 36330.

Steve was born October 8, 1950 in Covington County, Alabama to Mittie Cox and the late Earl Berry. “Pop,” as he was affectionately known by his three grandsons and many others, possessed a giving spirit. He was hard working, had a fun-loving zest for life and was the constant prankster. Most importantly he greatly loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Harlie Cox and his sister, Beverly Puttman.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia King Berry, Slocomb; one son, Mark Berry (Brittany),  Slocomb; one daughter, Kellie Skipper (Chris), Slocomb; three grandsons: Trenton, Tanner and Cayden; two sisters: Cheryl Ward (Allen), Midland City and Pam Cox (Wilton), Red Level; one brother, Kenneth Berry, Red Level; several special brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Steve’s personal care team with Southern Care Hospice and Dr. Walter J. Doty, III and Staff.
